In 1996 recognizing the need and importance of the Independent music scene and the vital role it played in the development of young musical talent, Shoreline Records creators set out to form a record label that would provide a home for new and established artists to launch from. Since then Shoreline has played a vital role in the development of some of Canada's most recognized talent. Artists such as Rymes With Orange, The Killjoys, Patricia Conroy, The Nylons, Nickleback and more have all found a home at one time with this young and successful label.
Today Shoreline is moving across borders in its quest to find new and unique talent to join its team. Canadian bands are also finding Shoreline as an effective route to the U.S market without joining the ranks of the overburdened Multi Nationals. Generation 2000 artists have more choices than ever and the need for the Major label is declining and the role of the Independent label is increasing. The field is equalizing and at the forefront of this change are the artists who are demanding more control and freedom than ever before. Put simply, we may not exist as we do today tomorrow, but in the meantime we can continue to provide talented artists with the most effective alternative.
